HEALTH TIPS

Dr. Carol M. Lovins, M.D.

grew up in Farmington, Michigan.  She liked math and science in high school.  She majored in biology on a pre-med track at the University of Michigan because she felt the path could provide a lot of options.  Upon graduation, she entered medical school at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where she had spent summers on her grandparents’ horse farm and where her parents had moved when she started college.  She liked surgery and decided on obstetrics/gynecology by her third year.  She did her residency at Cincinnati’s Good Samaritan Hospital while her physicist husband got a master’s in radiation physics at the University of Cincinnati.  As they looked for a place to plant roots, two Lexington surgeons told them about an opportunity in Lawrenceburg, and they liked its small town feel for raising kids.  After spending her final months of residency on bed rest, she gave birth to twins Abigail and Sydney three days after graduation.  She joined Partners in Health when the group formed.  She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

“I like to treat patients like family members.  I enjoy my patients … talking to them and keeping up with what’s going on in their lives.  I think this kind of communication builds a greater trust level, and the information they share often allows me to make better decisions about their treatment.  I like being at one hospital (Dearborn County Hospital).  I know the staff and they know me.  The community is the perfect size, and so is our practice … a group of doctors who support each other.  I’m a fulltime doctor, but I’m very aware of being mom to my very active twins.”
